Why Are My Shingles Lifting or Curling?

Shingles that have started to lift at the edges, curl upward, or cup in the middle are a common sight on older roofs across South Carolina. Sometimes it's ordinary aging. Normal Aging vs. Storm Damage

A roof with shingles curling uniformly across large sections, especially on a roof old enough to be nearing the end of its service life, is usually showing ordinary wear — the whole roof aged together and is failing together. Lifting that's isolated to one section, especially after a specific wind event or the passage of a tropical storm remnant, points more toward storm damage than gradual aging.
